It wouldn't be much of an issue for me as I have the captain seats and I intend to slide the bed against the captain seats to complete the length

Now if only I could find a breaker in Germany who could sell me one of those bead-seats and ship it on a pallet

Hi Dave, welcome to the Forum (and the Club?),

just an idea, if it dont need to be genuine Mercedes/Westfalia parts.
There is a pretty large van conversion scene in the UK with quite a number of professional outfitters and options.
while it seems they have mainly a Volkswagen T4/T5 oriented target group, there still are also multi platform options e.g. benches and even van converters who have concepts for the Vito.
I have been in contact with Vanguard Van Conversion several times during the build of my first van. Of course there are many others, and maybe closer ones to your city, but they are a really nice bunch of outdoor guys :-) and converting vans for camping and sports (MTB, surfing, boating etc).

Maybe this helps finding arguments / a decision for a stock Fun/MP from the mainland or for a used right hand drive car from UK and convert yourself/with an outfitter :-)

The main thing I don't want to lose is a usable car, I.e I want to retain 6-7 useable seats and have no issues when it comes to insurance/MOT's..

For me having a fully fledge camper is not really a requirement my ideal solution would be a Viano Fun Westfalia (bed, standing room and possible roof bunk).

If I can source the grey leather trimmed seat-bed its a super simple swap job and of course when I sell the Viano I can decide weather or not to include the bed or sell it separately

I don´t think that would be really a satisfying solution for you. Also if you do all this effort I wouldn´t do a half thing and make it without the bed extension.

That are exactly the reasons why I searched for about half a year to find a suitable Fun model for me. If standing room is important for you then you need a push-up roof anyway, which automatically would mean you don´t need to worry about the bed "downstairs" any more!
