It is the EGR valve, which causes the noise.
The pneumatics line seems to be divided for 3 controls: The turbo wings adjustment, air valve control in the intake manifold, as well as the EGR-control.I removed the EGR-valve, which is on the aluminium cast cover.
I also opened the the valve´s work piston, which is under the 8 cm dia plastic cover. It is not ment for opening so it broke a little and I had to use a srew-tightened clamp around it when re-installing.
I noticed no visible fault in the valve or diaphragm.
I thought that the spring against the metal plate in the piston might cause the vibration. So I took about 1.5 mm rubber plate and made a round rubber plate between the spring and the metal plate. I also put some grease to the piston rod installed all again. The noise disappeared !!
Only on heavy loads you can hear some noise apparently from the EGR, but 95% less than before.
No I can drive without the irritating "grasshopper sound" behind the instrument panel. I had worked many hours with this problem.
I am afraid that buying a new EGR valve would not have solved the problem, because the valve seemed to be in normal condition.
