Hi Andy,

this car is really a big joke! In one of your previous contributions to the group I read that your Vito has a petrol machine, while mine was a Diesel.
They told me that this problem is unique to the CDIs, LOL!
In my case they even recommended to buy a petrol version, which I refused to do due to my experience and also considering the much higher costs for the petrol. With the current petrol/diesel prizes in combination with the german taxes it already pays around 8000km/year to buy the CDI.
The first time my car went wrong it was only a few days old and had only about 250km on the clock. Then it happened about every 200km for the next half year. OK, admitted, we weren't driving it much, but I always had the feeling that the problem was more related to the weather and it never happened later than 5 minutes after starting the engine. There was nothing from August to November, but in November at the first cold and foggy weekend it happened 3 times! Then I was really fed up with it.
During the last year they changed all the sensors and valves related to the exhaust system, the low pressure pump, the intake bend (which was faulty, but seemed to be independant to the original problem), checked everything endlessly again and again. I'm afraid it's built in and occurs only for a few people matching certain conditions. For us it was in 90% usually at the same traffic light, about 1.5 km from home.

That the Vito will be dropped is new to me, this would be really sad as the idea of the car is really great. Compared to the T4 it's much more comfortable for the driver. If they'd only build a little bit more quality into that car..

I don't know about the V230, but with the CDIs it seems to be possible to have the problem again, although the circumstances causing that seem to be a little bit cloudy.

The situation you're describing was always in my mind, as in our vicinity there is a Autobahn entry without an acceleration lane and after that the road is rising up to the Schwäbische Alb. Would be a once in a lifetime experience entering there with suddenly max. 2700 rpm and maximum speed around 50 km/h!:-(
Just out of curiosity, why didn't you return that car?

Regards,
Günter
